Furnace service

Furnace Service for the Few Cold Nights That Matter.

Most Gainesville homes don't have furnaces - but for inland homes with gas service and tight building envelopes, a furnace can be the right choice. We install, repair, and maintain gas and electric furnaces with proper combustion testing and venting inspections.

Gas vs electric furnace

Choose what fits your home.

Gas furnaces heat fast and cheap (when natural gas is cheap), but require gas service and a vent. Electric furnaces work anywhere there's electricity but cost 2-3x more to run. For Florida specifically, the math usually favors heat pumps over either - but if you have an existing gas line and a tight, well-insulated home, gas furnaces still pencil out.

  • Gas furnaces with proper vent and combustion testing
  • Electric furnaces with capacity testing and breaker confirmation
  • We do not install furnaces if heat pump is the right answer for you
  • Annual safety inspections (combustion, venting, CO testing)

Common furnace problems

What our techs see most.

Igniter failure is #1 (especially on hot-surface igniters - they wear out every 5-7 years). Blower motor issues are #2 - usually capacitors or bearings. Then thermostat issues, gas valve faults, and rolled-out flame sensors. All common, all fixable, and we keep parts on the truck for the most frequent failures.

  • Hot-surface igniter failures - cheap fix, common
  • Blower motor / capacitor failures
  • Flame sensor cleaning - simple service, often missed
  • Gas valve replacement - safety-critical, we do it right
  • Annual combustion analysis with carbon monoxide test

Frequently asked

Furnace questions

Should I be checking my furnace for carbon monoxide?

Yes - every gas furnace owner should have CO detectors near sleeping areas and have the furnace inspected annually for proper combustion. We include a CO test in every furnace tune-up. If you don't have CO detectors, please install them today, regardless of whether we ever do work for you.

How often does a furnace need maintenance?

Annually for gas furnaces - non-negotiable for safety. Electric furnaces are more forgiving but still benefit from yearly checks on contactors and heating elements.

How long do furnaces last?

15-20 years for gas furnaces with maintenance, 12-18 for electric. Significantly longer than heat pumps because furnaces only run a few months in Florida.

Do you do gas line work?

For furnace connections, yes - we're licensed to work on the connection between the gas valve and your existing line. New gas line installs to homes that don't have service we typically refer to a dedicated gas plumber.
